Breakthrough

So after a long weekend of headaches, feeling fatigued, sick and drowsy, I woke up feeling better and with a sensation that the withdrawals were almost gone. I was still yawing a bit for the first couple of hours and late in the afternoon but overall I felt better. The most important thing was that the headaches and felling fatigued were finally diminishing. It’s kind of strange that I feel this way only a week into the experiment. I know I should not have had any preconceived notions about the experiment beforehand but I kind of thought that even up to the fourteenth day I would still be going through withdrawals.
While I was at work I was telling my co-worker about how much better I was feeling at that I didn’t have the same cravings that I had last week. He also was surprised that I was feeling better just a week into the experiment. He joked by stating that we should celebrate over a cup of coffee. I said if I have a cup of regular coffee than he had to have a cup of decaf. He didn’t go for it.
Now even though my cravings were not as strong today, I feel like I’m getting a little tired of water and juice all the time. I guess I could look at as a healthy cleansing of toxins from my body. That aside, I miss having the occasional soda. Even though caffeine in soda is technically one big category, there are a lot of options that one has to choose from. I think that is what I miss the most from soda. I may be primarily a Diet Coke drinker but whenever I feel like something different, I know that I have plenty of options when I’m at 7-11. Even though I had a cup of decaf coffee a couple of days ago I kind of want to stay from caffeine free soda. Actually since I mostly drink Diet Coke, I want to stay away from caffeine free Diet Coke. For some reason I feel that the sugar and caffeine is just replaced by other chemicals so it probably can’t be good for you. At least decaf coffee is just coffee flavored water with no other chemicals added. Part of my hesitation to caffeine free Diet Coke is that couple of years ago I remember having one and noticing that it didn’t taste as good. Maybe next week I can try one again.
